Polymer Modified Bitumen
Elastomeric Thermoplastic Based – Grade E40
Petra Oil’s Grade E-40 is a practical and economical Elastomeric Thermoplastic Based Modified Bitumen, designed to improve road surface flexibility and durability in moderate climates and light-to-medium traffic conditions. With a softening point of 40°C, E-40 helps reduce the early signs of fatigue and cracking typically seen in standard bitumen, while maintaining the benefits of elasticity and improved adhesion.
This grade is best suited for residential streets, low-volume rural roads, and access roads to commercial and institutional facilities. It performs well under seasonal temperature fluctuations, helping prevent surface degradation and ensuring a smoother, longer-lasting pavement.
Key Specifications:
- Type: Elastomeric Thermoplastic Based Modified Bitumen
- Softening Point: 40°C
- Standard Compliance: IS 15462:2019
- Formulation: Flexible polymer-enhanced binder for light-duty use
Main Applications of Grade E-40:
- Residential Roads & Local Streets: Offers improved flexibility and surface life for daily use in suburban areas.
- Low-Traffic Access Roads: Adds surface resilience for driveways, parking lots, and low-speed commercial areas.
- Rural Roadways: Suitable for locations where seasonal weather shifts could affect road stability.
Benefits of Grade E-40:
- Enhanced flexibility and resistance to thermal stress
- Cost-effective upgrade from conventional bitumen
- Reduces small surface cracks and water ingress
- Ideal for light-traffic infrastructure in transitional climates
- Easier application and better workability during paving
